A charming and comfortable harlequin pair of 19th-century low-back oak and elm Windsor chairs. Probably originating from Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire.
One chair with a vase-shaped pierced splat, a solid saddle seat, raised on turned legs and united by a double H stretcher. The other has a solid saddle seat and a spindle back and is raised on turned legs united by an H-frame stretcher.
The overall condition of both chairs is very good, with no loose joints and a beautiful, gently worn patina.
