Lincoln Restorations has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
A robust and daily usable kitchen table with great style.
The table features a practical drop-leaf design that allows it to transition from a compact form into a larger surface. The size is perfect for 2 people to be at the table with the leaves down and will comfortably seat up to 4 people with the leaves down. Its key feature is the "scrub top", which has been recently re-scrubbed and clear-waxed, giving the tabletop a beautiful, pale and raw appearance that highlights the natural grain of the pine. The table has lots of charming original marks and dents which all tell a story of its life, the one top does have evidence of historic woodworm which is not active and has at some point has been filled. While it may have originally been a painted base table, it has since been stripped back to its natural state, allowing the wood to mature gracefully and achieve its current light, rustic aesthetic. The table stands on four turned legs , typical of the Victorian era, which provide stability and decorative detail with their distinct ringed and bulbous shaping. Functionally, the table is fitted with a single drawer in the frieze that runs perfectly, constructed with fine dovetailing visible in the joinery, and is accented with an ebonised turned wooden knob that offers a pleasing dark contrast against the light pine. Being restorers, this table has been through our workshop to ensure it is fully functioning and in home ready condition. This very honest and characterful piece, with its matured patina, would integrate beautifully into both traditional antique settings and more contemporary modern interiors. Condition and Provenance As an antique, this table does show lots of signs of age and use. While in fantastic condition, expect marks, dents and scratches consistent with historical pieces.
