A highly unusual and exceptionally long early 18th-century oak dresser base remarkable for both its scale and configuration. It is elevated with fine decorative details including cross-banding and arched fielded panelled sides. Pieces of this period—circa 1720—were rarely constructed at this length making this an outstanding and scarce example suitable for a country house or substantial interior.This dresser base is crafted from solid oak with a rich, deep patina developed over more than three centuries. Its unusual layout is a key feature: instead of the more commonly seen three-drawer formation with a potboard or central cupboard, this piece incorporates a long bank of nine graduated drawers flanked by twin fielded-panel cupboards providing both symmetry and striking visual impact.
