Pinefinders has dated this piece to the Victorian era.

Inside, there’s a traditional candle box on the left-hand side, originally used to store candles separately from linens. The chest retains its original penny end strap hinges, and the underside of the lid has supportive braces, keeping it sturdy and practical.

A lock is present, though there’s no key, so its functionality can’t be guaranteed. Carrying handles are fitted at both ends, and the back of the chest is clean and tidy, making it suitable for positioning either against a wall or in the centre of a room.
Available for £300 in bare wood, or £337 if you’d like it waxed in a finish of your choice.
Dimensions: height 17.5", width 44.5", depth 18" (approximately 44 cm x 113 cm x 46 cm).
