A fine and substantial Schierholz & Sohn flower-encrusted porcelain centerpiece, Plaue an der Havel, Germany, circa 1885. The reticulated Rococo bowl with gilt handles stands on a scrolling base and twisted stem, densely decorated with applied roses and forget-me-nots. Each fragile bloom was modelled and painted by hand, showing the exceptional skill of the Plaue workshop. The survival of these delicate flowers in such quantity is extraordinary.The interior carries a painted bouquet of forget-me-nots. Both blank cartouches on the base were intended for later dedications or crests, in keeping with Schierholz’s luxury presentation pieces.
