An Irish George II Period Carved Mahogany Tilt-Top Tripod Supper Table, circa 1750
 
A superb quality example, crafted from the finest early Cuban mahogany. The well-figured, single-piece solid top rests upon a well proportioned baluster stem, raised on a tripod base of carved cabriole legs with scroll-carved inner arches. Exceptionally heavy and made to the highest standard of the period, this is an outstanding and original Georgian table.

Height: 73 cm (28 ¾'') tall.
 
Top diameter: 85.5 cm (33 ¾'') by 86 cm (33 ¾'').
 
Condition:
 
Excellent condition, commensurate with age. Structurally sound and sturdy throughout. Original throughout with no obvious damage or later repair. The top shows old marks and blemishes from use, now well polished in, with a rich colour and attractive patina. Never French polished. Recently and sensitively cleaned, waxed, and ready for use.
