A rare early Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre bowl designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones, pattern Z4824, c.1915. Scalloped form on a low circular foot, glazed in radiant orange-gold lustre with all-over colour stainings and mottling. The interior, in deep violet-blue lustre, shows gilt dragons and a central geometric medallion; the exterior carries graceful gilt butterflies. The lustre hues are far more vivid in hand than photographs can convey.
