A Precision Regulator, Longcase, Long Case, Grandfather Clock, Circa 1870.

19th century
Description

A fine quality flame mahogany 8 Day floorstanding, observatory dial layout, regulator longcase clock c.1870.

The high quality case veneered in beautifully figured flame mahogany of excellent colour and patination.

The arched top jewellers shop style case with glazed and ogee moulded trunk door with moulded glazed panels to the case sides.

Finely carved scrolled leaf decorative work beneath the dial.

The finely figured flame mahogany box base with recessed moulded panel, mounted on a plinth skirt and bun feet.

The original locks, key and hinges to the trunk door.

Movement access door to the case top, with the original lock and hinges.

The circular engraved silvered brass dial with outer minute track and subsidiary dials for the hours and seconds, Observatory dial layout, surrounded by a silvered brass sighting ring.

Signed to the centre for the jewellers shop Brewer of Hoylake, most probably a London manufactured clock based on the overall quality.

The substantial fully restored movement of eight day duration, with thick shaped plates united by four large turned pillars.

Fine 6 spoke wheel work and high count pinions throughout, Harrison’s maintaining power, jewelled deadbeat escapement.

Polished brass cased cylindrical weight with ornate fretted and spoked pulley.

The polished steel and brass frame pendulum with mercury filled glass jar compensation, with engraved and calibrated rating nut with blued steel pointer.

Silvered and engraved beat scale.

Blued steel hands.

Overall a very fine and original clock of excellent colour and patination.

All of our clocks are mechanically guaranteed for two years and are genuine examples restored to the highest standard by our FBHI and Clockmakers Company awarded horologist.

Delivery and set up is included in the price for all UK mainland deliveries. All clocks are carefully delivered and fully commissioned by ourselves.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
