Augustus Pugin’s architectural precision and F. C. Lewis’s rich tonal aquatint combine to convey the heat, smoke, and bustle of the great hearth as cooks prepare vast feasts beneath the soaring Gothic windows.
This plate is from Rudolph Ackermann’s celebrated series A History of the University of Oxford, one of the most beautifully produced colour-plate books of the Georgian era.

Condition Report: Very good condition. Rich, original colour with only light toning and faint surface marks. Frame shows minor wear consistent with age but displays well.
