Here’s a lovely old Victorian pine blanket chest, or blanket box, with a flat top. It’s in very nice condition for its age and has a clean, simple look that would suit a range of interiors.

Inside, it retains its original penny end strap hinges and includes a small candle box on the left-hand side — traditionally used for storing candles, while the main compartment held blankets and linens. The lock isn’t currently working, which is quite common for pieces of this age.

The back is also tidy, so it could easily be placed in the centre of a room and even used as a coffee table if desired.
