Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian mahogany armchairs feature solid hardwood frames, detailed hand-carved embellishments, turned front legs, and high upholstered backrests typical of mid-to-late 19th-century British furniture design.

Makers constructed these frames using solid mahogany or oak secured with mortise and tenon joints, employing natural horsehair padding, steel coil springs, and jute webbing beneath woven fabric or leather upholstery.

Authentic period pieces display hand-carved timber accents with slight variations, period-appropriate castor wheels, mortise-and-tenon frame joinery, and natural age-related patina on lower leg turnings.

Position the piece as an accent chair within a reading corner or study, updating worn upholstery with contemporary linen or velvet to create a balance between traditional framework and modern texturing.

Dust the timber framework regularly with a dry cloth, apply natural beeswax periodically to protect the original finish, and position the chair away from direct heat sources to prevent wood movement.
