Irish Provincial Female Silversmith Silver Gravy Ladle

18th century
Description

An extremely rare silver gravy ladle dating from the Georgian period and assayed at the Irish Provincial Office of Cork. This splendid example is in Old English pattern and has a graceful curved handle. Adding to the desirability, is the Maker's mark CT/IW for Carden Terry and Jane Williams. Williams was the widow of Carden Terry's partner and their mark was struck 1807-1821. With so much flatware now melted for scrap this is a desirable find, particularly for collectors of Irish Provincial silver. A fine piece with a practical use. Dimensions below.
