Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pitch pine was heavily used in Victorian Britain due to its durability, straight grain, and resinous strength. These chests typically feature a two-over-three drawer configuration with robust joinery designed for utilitarian and domestic storage.

Pitch pine is characterised by its dense, resin-rich grain and warm amber tone. Construction often incorporates hand-cut dovetail joints, solid pine drawer linings, turned bun feet, and cast brass or iron drawer pulls.

Authentic Victorian pine chests display indicators such as hand-sawn drawer bottoms, irregular dovetails, original keyhole escutcheons, and natural timber shrinkage lines along the sides or top.

Pair a warm pine chest with modern neutral walls, textured linen textiles, and contemporary artwork to create a balanced contrast between rustic timber tones and modern minimalist aesthetics.

Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually along the wood grain. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent timber movement or cracking.
