Mahogany Inlaid Demi-lune Console Table

Description

Here we have for sale today this 19th Century Mahogany & Inlaid Demi-Lune Console table.

Dating 1840 ish and all made in mahogany, standing on these square tapered legs with spade feet, having this wraparound skirt and a solid top. All smothered with this Satinwood inlaid with Boxwood and Ebony Stringing.

This table has been into the polish shop for a clean and polish and looks stunning having this medium mahogany colour and a lovely polish (please see pictures)

Solid in all its joints with no breaks and no woodworm.

A demi-lune console table is a semi-circular accent table originating in the eighteenth century, designed to fit flush against a wall in hallways, entryways, or formal reception rooms.

These tables were typically constructed with solid mahogany frames and mahogany veneers, accented by lighter wood inlays such as satinwood or boxwood to create decorative geometric stringing.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut timber veneers, traditional mortise and tenon jointing, square tapered legs, and natural oxidisation on the unpainted underside.
