A rare Derby porcelain Trio c.1797. Each piece very finely decorated with topographical landscapes by George Robertson, all reserved on a bright canary yellow ground within blue enamel borders picked out in gold and white.
Marks: crown, crossed batons, D mark and pattern number 311 in puce, gilder''s numeral 8 for William Longdon.
Literature: A teacup and saucer of this pattern, also by George Robertson, is in the Charles Norman Collection, illustrated in the catalogue at p.56.
Condition: Excellent with no damage or restoration. A very small amount of wear to the gilding just around the rim of the teacup and coffee can.
Notes: Pattern 311, is considered by many Derby porcelain collectors to be the finest canary yellow produced by the factory in the late 18th century. The pattern was decorated with landscapes by artists decorators Zacharia Boreman, John Brewer. Thomas ‘Jockey Hill’ and as here, George Robertson.
