Gillers Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The creamy stone with natural red veining takes a satin polish; carving is confident, with expressive features, rhythmic drapery and crisp cords and coins. The underside bears red seal-paste residue. Shoushan, quarried in Fujian, is one of China’s Four Great Seal Stones, prized for compact grain and elegance.
