Fannie Moody (British, 1861-1948
Animal painter, Illustrator, Miniature painter.
She exhibited extensively, including at the Royal Academy from 1888 to 1897 and the Society of British Artists, as well as throughout Liverpool and Manchester. She was awarded the Silver Medal in 1898 at the Crystal Palace Art Union for the best animal study, and was a member of the Society of Women Artists (SWA). Several of her original works have been reproduced as chromolithographs and various other types of prints, and she also did artwork for cookie tins and postcards, as well as being published in several magazines and publications. Mediums worked in included oil, watercolour, pastel, coloured chalks, conte crayon, charcoal and gouache.
This oil painting signed by Fannie Moody is understood to be probably one of her largest works. Her fabulous paintings have sold for as much as £20,000 historically, so this particular antique oil painting of hers is actually very keenly priced in our opinion due to its size and quality.
