Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian overlay glass scent bottles are small decorative containers designed to hold perfume or smelling salts during the mid-to-late nineteenth century. They feature a glassmaking technique where a layer of coloured glass is fused over clear glass and subsequently cut away to create intricate contrast patterns.

These bottles were typically crafted using hand-blown lead glass, often layered with coloured casing such as cobalt or ruby glass. Mounts, collars, and screw caps were commonly constructed from sterling silver, silver plate, or gilt brass.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut faceted glass with slight hand-crafted irregularities, wear on the base matching their age, and period-correct silver hallmarks or makers marks on the collar or cap.

Miniature scent bottles can be styled arranged on a mirrored vanity tray, positioned within a glass display cabinet, or placed on a bedside table alongside contemporary ceramics.

Clean glass surfaces gently with a soft, damp cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners. Silver components should be polished carefully using a dedicated silver cloth to avoid transferring polish onto the glass.
