A pair of early 1900s matching Ushak Runners offered in excellent condition.Rare to find Runners of this age with such thick ,soft even pile throughout.The colours are still very vibrant with Salmon Flowers and leaves on a lovely inky blue background.

Easy to see how these sparse designs and colours are so popular with Homes and interior designers alike.

Width of runners are the same,with the shorter by about 4cm.

They grew up as a pair,so ideally would love to sell them together.

Originating from the town of Usak in Western Anatolia, Ushak rugs are renowned for their distinct knotting techniques, geometric motifs, and rich colour palettes, widely favoured in European interiors since the 15th century.

Traditional Ushak runners are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile on a wool or cotton warp and weft foundation, utilising the Turkish or Ghiordes symmetrical knot.

Authentic early 20th-century Ushak pieces feature natural or early synthetic dyes, slight natural variations in the weave tension, and soft, pliable hand-knotted backs without machine-stitched bindings.

A pair of matching long runners can be placed parallel along either side of a bed, laid along wide corridors, or positioned to connect open-plan living spaces with continuous textile patterns.
