A refined late Georgian tea table Veneered in plum-pudding mahogany with contrasting crossbanding and delicate line inlay. The rectangular top with rounded front corners folds open on brass hinges to reveal a plain mahogany surface, supported by a single swing leg to form a larger surface.
Reflecting the neoclassical restraint of the late 18th century, its warm tone and subtle detailing lend a quietly accomplished presence. An ideal size for use as a side or lamp table, with the option to open for occasional use when additional surface space is needed.
Presented in very good antique condition with a mellow, well-aged patina and minor wear consistent with age. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home. An early 20th-century dealer’s plaque to the back rail (James Reeve Ltd, Birmingham) indicates long-standing provenance within the trade.
English, circa 1790.
