Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian pendant brooches from the 1870s frequently feature openwork geometric frames, filigree wirework, and multi-gemstone settings. These dual-purpose items feature removable bails or folding suspension loops, enabling them to function as either neck pendants or dress brooches.

Jewellers during this period commonly crafted pieces using 18ct yellow gold combined with cabochon-cut gemstones such as garnets, sodalite, and seed pearls. Hand-drawn wirework, granulations, and customized bezel settings were standard structural techniques.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-crafted filigree, hand-engraved details, tube hinges, C-clasps, and historical gem cuts. Hallmarkings or maker stamps on the reverse setting or suspension loop also assist in identifying metal purity and origin.

A convertible piece can be suspended from a modern gold chain as a statement neckpiece or pinned to a blazer lapel, coat, or velvet ribbon to add historical detail to modern attire.

Store the item in a fabric-lined box to protect soft gemstones and pearls from abrasion. Clean gold surfaces with a dry, soft microfibre cloth, keeping moisture and chemical solutions away from porous stones and organic pearls.
