Longquan Celadon Foliate-rim Bowl, Southern Song – Early Yuan, C. 13th–early 14th Century

Description

A scholarly Longquan celadon of broad profile with lobed rim and carved chrysanthemum within a scrolling cavetto. The translucent sea-green glaze pools in carved recesses and whitens delicately at the rim. The exterior has evenly spaced vertical “melon” fluting; the foot is high, cleanly cut, and shows kiln grit with a central glaze button. Attributes confirm a mature Southern Song to early Yuan example: fine compact body, high-lime glaze with micro-bubbles, and hand-carved drawing under the glaze. UV-checked: rim and base inert, no restoration.
