A George 111 Mahogany Rolltop Desk

An Attractive George 111 Rolltop Desk c1825. It has a number of features it has a curved and slatted rolltop with two brass handles which when opened reveals three working drawers to each side with satinwood fronts and oak linings and a middle drawer below the four pigeon holes which has one larger pigeon hole to each side. The remaining drawers are purely decorative false drawers that meet the desk. The central writing service is covered with a green baize to provide a smooth writing surface which can be raised. The desk top can be pulled forward as seen in the photos giving a 49 cm x 43 desk space. Finally the desk has two larger drawers to front with lion ring pull handles. The whole stands on nicely tapered legs terminating on brass cap castors. It has its own key.

Altogether a really lovely desk over 180 years old. It has some marks commensurate with age and use and 2/3 pieces of veneer missing as can be seen in pictures and reflected in price on back and one side back. The desk is currently held in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire
