Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silver serving utensils from the early twentieth century often showcase ornate detailing, including chased or repousse floral motifs, gilded bowls, and handles constructed from organic materials such as mother of pearl or bone.

These pieces typically combine a solid sterling silver head or bowl, often finished with gold gilding (vermeil), joined via a silver ferrule to a polished, carved mother-of-pearl shell handle.

Authentic British silver bears a set of stamped hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for sterling purity, an assay office symbol (such as a leopard head for London or anchor for Birmingham), a date letter corresponding to 1906, and a makers mark.

Antique serving utensils can be styled as functional table settings during formal dinners, displayed inside decorative glass cabinets, or arranged atop a dining room sideboard as decorative metalwork accents.

Gently wipe silver gilt surfaces with a soft silver polishing cloth, avoiding harsh abrasive creams that can strip the gilding. Hand wash only in warm soapy water without submerging the mother-of-pearl handles, as prolonged moisture can weaken original adhesives.
