Late 19th-century Wooden Hat Stretcher

£390    $522    €457
A beautifully made late 19th-century hat stretcher, constructed from turned beech with an iron screw handle mechanism. The twin domed halves expand smoothly to adjust the circumference, allowing precise reshaping of felt or straw hats.

This type of stretcher would have been a workshop essential for milliners or hatters, used to resize or maintain hat forms. The piece has a lovely aged patina to both the wood and metal, with visible tool marks and wear consistent with regular professional use.
