Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Old Paris porcelain, or Vieux Paris, refers to hard-paste porcelain produced by independent artisanal workshops operating in and around Paris from the late 18th century through the mid-19th century. During the Empire period, pieces were characterised by Neoclassical amphora forms, heavy gold leaf gilding, bold cobalt accents, and detailed hand-painted floral or classical motifs.

These pieces were crafted from hard-paste porcelain, thrown or mould-cast, and fired at high temperatures. Surface decoration involved hand-enameling for polychrome motifs alongside hand-applied mercury gilded accents, which were burnished using agate stones to create a reflective metallic surface.

Authentic 19th-century Old Paris porcelain frequently lacks maker marks, as many smaller Parisian decorating studios did not mark their wares. Identification relies on physical traits such as hand-burnished gilding wear, precise enamel work, weight consistent with hard-paste porcelain, and Neoclassical urn forms supported on square plinths.

Position the vase as a focal feature on a mantelpiece, marble console table, or sideboard. Pairing the piece with contemporary artwork or structured greenery creates a balanced visual contrast between historical craftsmanship and clean modern lines.

Dust gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a camel-hair brush to protect the gilded layer. Avoid immersion in water, abrasive scrubbing, or chemical cleaning solutions, as these will remove original overglaze enamels and delicate leaf gilding.
