An absolutely fabulous and extremely rare ART DECO Styptor engine turned Diamond set Minaudičre with rose gold inlay to the top by renowned makers Van Cleef & Arpels dated around the 1930’s - 40’s.An amazing piece of true French Art Deco.The main part of the box is made of styptor which is an alloy of pewter and silver and was used in the late 30’s and 40’s primarily in the manufacture of these items when precious metals were of short supply due to World War II.Impressed inside the rim with VCA STYPTOR METAL and 41573. It is stamped to the inside rim with VCA.There are approximately 1.5 carats of diamonds set into the top of the case, with rose gold inlay.Measuring 8cm in length x 6cm width x 1.5cm height, it weighs 98 grams.It is in fabulous condition for its now nearly 100 years, the box shuts with a wonderful snap, the cartouche is clear of any initials, there are a couple of marks to the body of the case and usual signs of wear commensurate of age and use.<...
