Kyoto-satsuma “kotobuki-do” Miniature Incense Burner (koro) With Lid, Late Meiji (c.1895–1910)

An exquisitely hand-painted miniature incense burner (koro) from the celebrated Kyoto workshop Kotobuki-do (mark ??). The squat, tripod form with short spout and loop handles is enamelled in polychrome and rich gilt with trailing wisteria, chrysanthemums and a songbird among flowering branches, all executed with microscopic precision. The warm ivory glaze shows the fine craquelure typical of Kyoto Satsuma. Original lid present and professionally rejoined in two places; gentle age-rubbing to gilt only.
 
A refined late-Meiji Kyoto piece—compact, balanced and display-ready.
