Description

A monumental Gothic Revival breakfront bookcase in walnut, from Northern Europe, circa 1890. Towering at over 3 metres in height, this architecturally conceived cabinet features a central tracery-arched pediment, flanked by crocketed finials and blind fretwork panels. The upper glazed doors are enriched with carved spandrels and pointed arches, while the lower section includes fielded cupboard doors, Gothic-style brass escutcheons, and three shallow drawers. Supremely detailed and structurally impressive, this late 19th-century bookcase would have been custom-made for a grand interior.
