Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Lee Sherman Antiques

A beautiful pair of Rosewood Pole Screens, likely early Victorian in date (possibly earlier), showcasing superb craftsmanship and elegant design. Each screen stands on three carved cabriole legs with decorative detailing, supporting a baluster column and adjustable pole topped with a finely carved acorn finial.

The shield-shaped silk/wool panels feature exquisite hand-embroidered scenes in tones of gold, cream, and black — depicting crowns, flowers, arrows, and foliate motifs. The embroidery is of exceptional quality and remains in remarkably fine condition for its age.

Dimensions (each):

Height: 151 cm (adjustable)

Screen: approx. 44 cm x 36 cm

Designed originally to shield the face from the heat of an open fire, these elegant pieces now make beautiful decorative accents in both period and contemporary interiors.

Condition:

Very good antique condition overall, with minor surface marks to the stands consistent with age and use.

A striking and well-preserved pair...
