19th Century Carved Oak Caryatid Pedestal

This is a superbly carved piece of 19th Century carving, it probably originated from a piece of furniture from where it was removed in the 1930s and made into a pedestal by the addition of an Oak table top

Our Caryatid is a female figure, possibly a mermaid, she has a serpent like creature with the head of a dragon coiled around her body, the detail of this carved piece is superb, hair, faces, wings and fins

The Mythical Lady is in good condition, with good patination she is 41” tall
