Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Louis XIV style furniture is recognised by its grand, symmetrical design, heavy ornamentation, and architectural structure. Originating in 17th-century France, revival pieces from the early 20th century feature intricate scrollwork, bold aprons, and carved stretchers.

Traditional French console tables were typically constructed from hardwoods such as oak or beech, allowing for deep carving. Tops were frequently crafted from solid marble or painted with faux-marble techniques, whilst frames were gilded or painted in soft muted shades.

Revival pieces from the 1920s exhibit precision woodworking combined with hand-carved finishing details. Look for natural age wear on painted surfaces, period-appropriate joinery underneath the frame, and hand-applied faux marble finishes.

Position the console table in an entryway or hallway to establish a central focal point. Pair it with a contemporary mirror or artwork mounted above, keeping surface accessories simple to highlight the carved apron and patina.

Dust the painted surface regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners or abrasive sprays that may strip distemper paint or faux finishes, and apply a light microcrystalline wax if required to preserve the timber.
