1929 silver Kays Keyless “Triumph” pocket watch.

William Kay set up Kays of Worcester in 1890. Customers bought items from handbills in a folder and initially the goods on offer were limited to jewellery, watches, clocks and household items. Eventually William’s son Jack took over the running of the business, just a year after this particular watch was made. The company continued to expand and trade successfully, becoming one of Worcester’s largest employers.

This particular watch has Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. It is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for Birmingham 1929 with a case maker’s mark for the Dennison Watch Case Company, a prolific case manufacturer who supplied various watch makers. The case is in nice condition, and has crisp engine turned detail to the back along with a central vacant cartouche.

The acrylic lens is in lovely condition.

The signed dial is in beautiful condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
