A striking and rare late-Meiji Japanese Satsuma vase by the esteemed Kinkozan workshop, Kyoto. This substantial exhibition-grade piece stands 38 cm tall and features a dramatic and uncommon neck structure: applied �bamboo� crossbar handles with triple collar bands � a demanding and rarely-seen architectural form reserved for high-status commissions.The richly decorated body displays armoured samurai in battle, advancing through a rocky landscape under drifting clouds and gold mist. Each warrior is rendered with meticulous brushwork: expressive faces, detailed armour plates, and, in places, raised moriage enamel beading � a hallmark of top-tier Kyoto production. The reverse includes floral and textile-patterned arabesques executed in a classical Kyoto palette of brown, black, gold, red, green, blue and soft ivory.The ivory crackle glaze is beautifully uniform, contrasting with the depth of the enamel and gilt.
