M Cross Antiques has dated this Elm Spindle Back Carver to the Georgian era.
This superb chair has been beautifully decorated with a single-row spindle back, elaborately turned cresting rail, and exquisitely turned spindles arranged in a fan pattern, flanked by round back uprights.
Chamfered back legs connect by a single stretcher, double side stretchers and a single ring-turned front stretcher finish off this wonderful piece of provincial furniture making.
In very good overall condition. Some very light losses to the rush seat, but beyond that, a stunning example of 19th-century English chair-making craftsmanship.
