Rare Etui King Louis XV Souvenir Gold Enamel Shagreen 18th Century Marie Antoinette

A rare and magnificent “souvenir d’amiste” or “ souvenir of friendship”, dating from the period of King Louis XV of France.
 
This Etui has solid gold detailing and pink enamel panels of cherubs.
 
Inside the box, which is covered in shagreen, is a collection of gold and mother of Pearl objects, including a pen knife, scissors, pencil.
 
There is a hand painted portrait of Marie Antionette on one side and the original mirror on the other.
 
This was made by a Parisian goldsmith circa 1775, they were making at this time luxurious personal articles and gifts for the French aristocracy and the countries elite.
 
One of the garlands around the enamel is missing as is one of the studs.
 
Apart from this it is in very good complete condition
