A museum-grade Japanese Satsuma ceramic plate of substantial size and visual impact, produced in Kyoto during the late Meiji period, circa 1890�1910. Executed in the finest Kyoto export tradition, this plate features a commanding scene of samurai warriors � the central figure with sword raised in mid-action � all painted in meticulous polychrome enamel and highlighted with dense moriage (beaded) detail and heavy gilding.The decoration is framed by a gilt Greek-key border, an uncommon and desirable design element that adds architectural rhythm to the composition.
