A very elegant early 18th-century oak and walnut English dresser base of good proportions and with a beautiful deep, rich patina.
This amazing example of English furniture making features a pair of deep drawers to the frieze, with both having naive hand cut cross banding, and a pair of brass swan neck drop handles and lock escutcheons. Below the drawers is a moulded edge with the base being supported by four turned legs.
The overall condition is superb given the age, still being in remarkably solid order. The top has wear and tear commensurate with 300 years of constant use and has had a small section to the rear replaced, where the original plate rack would once have been fitted.
A rare and desirable piece that would work well in an entrance hall , drawing room or dining room.
