Regency Rosewood Work and Games Table c.1820
A good early 19th century Regency period work and games table in rosewood, English, c.1820.
The rectangular top veneered in well-figured rosewood, opening to reveal an inlaid chessboard in contrasting woods. Below, a single drawer with turned brass pulls and a fitted lock, over a pull-out silk-lined workbox. The original green pleated silk remains intact, though with some expected fading and wear. Raised on lyre-shaped trestle supports joined by a turned stretcher and standing on shaped platform bases with bun feet.
An elegant and functional piece from the Regency period, combining both practical and recreational uses.
Condition:
Some marks and surface wear to the top commensurate with age. Minor looseness in the base but structurally sound. Workbox silk original but aged. Drawer slides well.
Dimensions:
Width: 53.5 cm
Depth: 35 cm
