Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Aubusson tapestries originate from the Creuse valley in central France, a region renowned for textile weaving since the 16th century. By the 19th century, tapestry panels were widely produced for upholstery, furniture covers, and decorative interior furnishings.

Authentic 19th-century Aubusson textiles were hand-woven on low-warp looms using cotton or wool for the warp and fine wool and silk yarns for the weft to achieve detailed floral shading.

Authentic period pieces feature a flat-weave structure, muted tonal variations from historical natural dyes, and slight structural irregularities typical of hand-loom production. The reverse usually displays period hand-stitching or aged lining fabric.

Antique tapestry cushions introduce texture and pattern when arranged against plain linen sofas or structured contemporary armchairs. Combining them with solid neutral textiles prevents visual clutter while accentuating the woven artwork.

Remove surface dust regularly using a low-suction vacuum cleaner equipped with a soft brush nozzle or protected with a mesh screen. Professional dry cleaning by a textile conservation specialist is recommended to safeguard the natural fibers.
