A rare and stunning 18th-century chest or Bible box on stand. The exquisitely decorated top section features geometric marquetry inlaid decoration to the lid and similar symmetrical decoration to the front. Additionally, a brass lock escutcheon designed in a heart shape to match the marquetry decoration holds the key to the working lock in place. This opens to reveal the large open interior space.The base section below this has two drawers to the front with brass pull handles and moulded edges and is raised on exquisitely turned and carved legs finished on pad feet.The overall condition is excellent given the age.
