This is an Asprey & Company late Georgian/William IV cut glass preserve or sugar bowl, cover and dish dating from the beginning of the 19th century, c1830. It was purchased by the previous owner from Asprey and Company in 1985 at a cost of £290. The receipt from Aspreys will be included in the deliverable. The bowl is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear consistent with some 200 years of use. The bowl has a cup-shaped bowl and measures 11 cm (4.4 inches) in diameter at its widest point. The bowl is pillar-cut above a basal band of diamond cutting, with prism cutting above and below the diamonds. The pillars are alternately plain and cut with strawberry diamonds. The capstan stem is vertically facet cut. The conical foot is radially cut with alternating plain and strawberry cut ribs. to the rim, under which sits a band of diamond cutting.
