Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Gothic Revival furniture emerged in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, drawing inspiration from medieval church architecture. Key features include pointed arches, tracery details, chamfered legs, lattice geometric patterns, and sturdy oak construction.

Traditional window seats were constructed using solid European oak, joined with pegged mortise and tenon joints for structural longevity. The tops often featured open lattice fretwork or slatted designs to allow air circulation while maintaining strength across long spans.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-planed surfaces, traditional joinery techniques, and genuine age-related wear around the feet and stretchers. Look for natural oxidisation of the oak grain and hand-carved arch details under the framing.

An antique wooden bench adds textural warmth to modern spaces when placed in a large hallway, bay window, or at the foot of a bed. Layering the wooden lattice seat with linen cushions or wool throws creates a contrast between structured timber and soft textiles.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth along the grain. Apply a high-quality clear beeswax paste once or twice a year to nourish the oak and protect the original patina, keeping the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage.
