Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silver ice pails, produced between 1901 and 1910, often feature cleaner lines and lighter ornamentation compared to heavier Victorian predecessors. Common aesthetic features include incised reeded bands, plain polished surfaces, and functional additions such as integrated tongs and swing handles.

Pieces from this era were primarily crafted from electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) or solid sterling silver. EPNS involved applying a thin layer of pure silver onto a base alloy nickel metal matrix via electrolysis to provide a durable and bright finish.

Authentic items typically display stamped makers marks, electroplate symbols such as EPNS or EP, and maker initials near the rim or base. Natural age wear, subtle surface patination, and period-specific proportions also help distinguish genuine antique pieces from modern reproductions.

A silver ice pail functions as a refined accent when positioned on a drinks trolley, sideboard top, or bar cart alongside crystal glassware. It can also be repurposed as a small planter or decorative holder on a mantlepiece or dining table.

Clean silver plate using a soft, non-abrasive cotton cloth and specialised silver foam or polish to avoid stripping the thin silver layer. Store in a dry, low-humidity environment away from rubber materials to slow down oxidisation and tarnish.
