Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A late 18th-century French console table from this era typically exhibits Rococo or Transitional design influences, featuring asymmetrical foliage carvings, coquille shell motifs, cabriole legs, and a fitted marble slab top.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid European hardwoods such as oak or walnut for the carved apron and leg structure, paired with thick, variegated marble tops sourced from local European quarries.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery, hand-carved frieze details showing subtle variation, historical wear on the underside of the frame, and heavy marble tops shaped to follow the precise contours of the wooden base.

Place the table against a neutral backdrop in an entrance hall or living room, topping it with modern ceramic vases, contemporary artwork, or minimal brass lighting to create a balanced contrast between old and new.

Clean the marble top with a pH-neutral cleaner and wipe spills immediately to prevent staining porous stone. Maintain the carved oak frame by dusting with a soft cloth and applying a microcrystalline wax sparingly.
