George III Mahogany Kneehole Desk, Circa 1780

£1,180    $1,588    €1,347
A fine quality George III mahogany kneehole desk, circa 1780, of elegant proportions and rich patina. The well-figured top with a crossbanded border above an arrangement of seven drawers around a central cupboard door, the upper long drawer forming a frieze. Each drawer is fitted with period pierced brass escutcheons and handles, and the central cupboard opens to reveal a single shelf.

Raised on shaped bracket feet with fluted corner pilasters, this piece exemplifies late 18th-century cabinetmaking — balanced in form and beautifully coloured.
