Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian presentation cutlery sets were specialized dining utensils produced in late nineteenth-century Britain for formal course dining. They typically feature carved natural handles, decorative metal ferrules, and custom fabric-lined presentation boxes.

These sets were constructed using natural nacre derived from shell linings for the handles, paired with silver or silver-plated brass for the tines and ferrules. Internal tangs were secured within the handles using specialized resins or pitch.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural variations in the iridescence and grain of the mother-of-pearl handles, alongside stamped makers marks or hallmarks near the ferrule. The presence of fitted velvet or silk-lined presentation cases with original clasps also indicates period authenticity.

Cased cutlery sets can be displayed open on a sideboard or placed within a glazed cabinet in a dining room to show the inner velvet lining and silver details. They can also be integrated into modern table settings for formal dining events.

Clean gently by hand using warm water and mild soap, ensuring the handles are not submerged to prevent loosening the adhesive. Wipe the silver tines with a soft silver-polishing cloth and dry thoroughly before returning the set to its presentation box.
