Rare Art Nouveau Solid Silver Letter Rack Frame by William Hutton & Sons, Birmingham 1905

1900 - 1920
Description

This unique and very decorative solid silver letter rack bears the marks of the illustrious William Hutton & Sons and is dated Birmingham 1905. The solid silver frame with sinuous designs, very much in the Art Nouveau manner, is mounted on an oak background. The background fitted with two hinged and slatted letter racks. Original light oak back and easel.

Hallmarks:

WH&S LD for William Hutton & Sons.

Birmingham Assay Mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letters "f" for 1905.

Condition:

Silver frame in very good condition.

Easel with some movement but stable.

Good set of marks on both racks, a little worn but legible on frame.

Dimensions:

Height: 19cm / 7.4 inches.

Maximum width: 14cm / 4.4 inches.
