Alternating panels of dragons and kylins with vases of precious objects, decorated in vibrant famille-verte enamels and enriched with gilding.
Introduced at Worcester about 1765 and later continued by Chamberlain, this pattern belongs to the finest achievements of the First Period Worcester. The present plate, unmarked as customary for this date, retains its original palette and crisp modelling. Among English porcelain designs, “Dragon in Compartments” ranks with “Crazy Cow” and “Kakiemon” for rarity and collecting importance. This example, preserved in exceptional condition and rare fluted form, is highly desirable and a strong investment piece.
Dimensions: diameter 20.8 cm; height 3.3 cm; weight 290 g.
Condition: excellent antique condition. Light wear to gilding, no damage or restoration. Small impressed dimple on base — a Worcester production feature.
