A robust Italian flintlock service-style pistol, 41cm overall with a 9'' iron barrel of approximately 14 bore. The lock is clearly signed ''TRULO'' with ''5'' engraved on the butt. Further faint engraving and proof stamped marks to the barrel. Brass furniture throughout, including sideplate, trigger guard, ramrod pipes and butt cap, set to a full walnut stock of typical military form.
The lock functions well on half- & full-cock with a crisp action. Barrel shows age-related pitting and staining but remains secure in the stock. Stock with period knocks and wear consistent with age and service use, no major repairs visible. Brass mounts with an attractive, untouched patina.
This pistol represents the practical, provincial military production of Southern Italy (likely Brescia or Naples region) around 1780–1820. The numbered lock and signed plate reflect a workshop making pistols for service or export in the Napoleonic era.
A good, honest example of an Italian service flintlock p
...istol, increasingly scarce in original condition.
